The Intelligent LED Lighting System from Digital Lumens was selected as a leader in the Sustainia100 guide, the company said in a statement June 11. The guide features the most innovative and sustainable products including LED lighting systems from around the world.

The Digital Lumens lighting system was selected because of the positive environmental, economic and social impact provided to local communities using the company's product. Industrial customers using Digital Lumens products have saved more than $25 million a year on costs related to lighting. The company's products are also helping those industrial customers reduce energy intensity.

It also notes what other countries are using sustainable solutions. Because Digital Lumens was selected by the guide, the company's Intelligent LED Lighting System will also be up for the Sustainia Award. The award is chaired by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and will be announced November 7 at a ceremony in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Digital Lumens' new partnership
In May, Digital Lumens announced a strategic partner program that will work to extend the company's vision for intelligent lighting solutions in commercial and industrial settings.

"Our vision has always been to make every light intelligent, which drives radical energy efficiency and builds a platform for distributed building intelligence," said Brian Chemel, founder and CTO of Digital Lumens. "We are pleased and honored to be among the high-caliber solutions in this guide, and will continue to innovate and deliver game-changing lighting and energy-management technologies to customers around the world."

The program will include software integration into other LED fixtures so it can drive down the costs of lighting. According to Xconomy, the partnership is part of a larger collaboration to create new industry standards from intelligence integration into LEDs.
